Climbing
Ladders, climbing animations, falling and crouch deaths.
Climbing
Ladders
Maps can now have climbable areas. Inside one:
- Move to climb up. Crouch climbs down, as in the original.
- There’s no gravity, so you don’t slide down or creep along a sloped floor.
- Jumping still works just after stepping off.
Each character climbs with its own animations, one for going up and one for going down. Both share their timing, so changing direction doesn’t restart the cycle.
Getting through doorways
The movement rework of the last post hit a snag: a small step under a low door frame couldn’t be entered. Movement now splits the body at step height, as the original did. The upper part collides with walls and ceilings, and the lower part only lifts the feet onto whatever they’re standing on. Low doorways with a step now work.
More animation
- Falling has its own full-body animation per character.
- Crouch deaths: dying while crouched plays one of two crouch death animations.
Temporary test keys for previewing deaths are in for now and will be removed later.
